
UVPCS Swimmers Make Waves at 2025 Canada Games
ST. JOHN'S, NL — Pacific Coast Swimming (UVPCS) delivered a powerhouse performance at the 2025 Canada Games, contributing to Team BC’s dominant showing in the pool with a string of podium finishes and record-breaking swims.
Leading the charge was breaststroke phenom Maelle Sanborn, who swept the podium in her specialty events. Sanborn captured gold in the Women’s 16 & Under 50m, 100m, and 200m Breaststroke, setting a new Canada Games record in the 50m sprint and new UVPCS 15-17 age group Club Records in all three events.
UVPCS also saw strong representation in the para swimming events. Sophie Wood earned three medals in the Women’s 13–25 Multi-Class category, including bronze in the 100m Freestyle and 100m Butterfly, and a silver in the 50m Freestyle, the latter setting a new Provincial Para Record. Roy Pan added to the medal haul with bronze finishes in the Men’s 13–25 Multi-Class 100m Backstroke and 100m Breaststroke.
Relay events showcased UVPCS’s depth and versaitlity. Sanborn joined forces with swimmers from Kelowna Aquajets and Canadian Dolphin Swim Club to clinch gold in both the Women’s 16 & Under 400m Freestyle Relay and the 400m Medley Relays. Meanwhile, Alex Camaraire raced multiple relays, helping Team BC secure silver in the Men’s 17 & Under 400m Freestyle Relay and Mixed 17 & Under 400m Freestyle Relay, and bronze in the 400m Medley Relay.
In total, UVPCS athletes contributed significantly to Team BC’s impressive tally of 43 medals — 17 gold, 9 silver, and 17 bronze — and six new Games records. Their performances reflect not only individual excellence but also the strength of the club’s coaching and development programs.
