UVPCS at the 2026 Canadian Swimming Trials

Pacific Coast Swimming athletes delivered an impressive week of performances at the 2026 Canadian Swimming Trials in Montreal, producing personal bests, club records, provincial records, and junior podium finishes against Canada's top swimmers.

The opening day saw a strong start from the club recording four personal bests during the morning preliminaries. Josh Lyu advanced to the B Final of the 200m Butterfly and finishing seventh overall after another solid swim while Sophie Wood raced in the 100m Backstroke final. During the time trials, Maelle Sanborn dropped four seconds from her 200m Freestyle best and Averie Hill recorded a personal best in the 200m Butterfly. Nolan Greenwood placed ninth in the junior category in the 800m Freestyle.

Day two continued the momentum with several standout performances. Alex Camaraire set a new 15–17 club record of 51.40 for the 100m Freestyle and put himself in contention for selection to Canada's Junior Pan Pacific Championships. Time trials brought more success - Nolan Greenwood taking five seconds off his 400m Individual Medley best, Averie Hill with a personal best in the 100m Freestyle, Aiyana Gagne dropping her best time in the 1500m Freestyle by 13 seconds, and Demetri Mylonas recording a new best in the 50m Backstroke.

The 3rd Day of Trials shone a spotlight on Maelle Sanborn who finished on the top step for the 50m Breaststroke after winning junior champion and finishing fourth overall with her time of 31.84 setting a new PCS open club record. Josh Lyu also posted a personal best of 57.20 in the 100m Butterfly while Jordan Raume finished seventh in the B Final of the 50m Breaststroke. Even more personal bests came from Demetri Mylonas in the 400m Freestyle time trial and Mila Chernenkoff delivered a strong performance in the B Final of the 400m Freestyle.

On Day 4, PCS carried on with another outstanding day of racing. Maelle Sanborn added a second-place junior finish and fifth overall in the 200m Breaststroke A Final while setting a new 15–17 club record. Sophie Wood continued her remarkable meet by breaking the provincial record in the 100m Breaststroke with a time of 1:28.10. Nolan Greenwood qualified in his first 1500m Freestyle at Trials, taking nine seconds off his personal best while Alex Camaraire recorded personal bests in the 50m Freestyle twice in the same session, including a 24.08 in the swim-off.

The meet wrapped up with Maelle Sanborn racing in the 100m Breaststroke to secure 1st place in the junior category and finished fourth overall, while setting another 15–17 club record. PCS also saw two personal bests from Aiyana Gagne who swam 9:06 in the 800m Freestyle and Averie Hill in the 100m Breaststroke at 1:15.10.
